Encapsulated Cardan Joint
The hygiene-compliant design of the FACB/FDCB food and hygienic pump from ROTOMAC is built for heavy solid-laden & abrasive media. It incorporates the “ROTOMAC” Cardan joint, vastly known for its robustness. The joints use food grade greases for lubrication, which ensures a long service life of the joint and also avoids contamination in food & hygiene critical applications.

ROTOMAC™ FACB / FDCB Pump
Part of the ROTOMAC food & hygienic range, the FACB/FDCB is the pump to specify when the media is heavy, solid-laden or abrasive and the process still has to meet hygiene requirements. At its core is the ROTOMAC Cardan joint — a heavy duty universal joint that carries higher load by design and outlasts a conventional pin joint in demanding duty.
The joint is fully encapsulated and lubricated with food grade greases. That combination keeps the lubricant sealed away from the product, extends joint service life, and removes a contamination risk that matters in hygiene-critical applications.
FACB or FDCB? Both share the same wet end and the same encapsulated cardan joint — the difference is the drive. FACB is the bareshaft configuration for engineers who want to specify their own drive train; FDCB is the close coupled configuration for a compact, factory-aligned unit.
Choose Your Drive Arrangement
Same pump, same joint technology — pick the drive configuration that fits your skid layout, maintenance access and installation approach.
Bareshaft Drive Configuration
The pump is supplied without a drive, mounted directly onto the pump body without couplings — leaving the drive arrangement entirely open to specification.
- Free choice of motor, gearbox or belt drive
- Adapts to existing skid layouts and retrofits
- Standard baseplate available for geared motor mounting
Close Coupled Drive Configuration
Pump and drive are supplied as a single factory-aligned assembly, flanged directly together without additional couplings or guards.
- Compact footprint, fewer components to align on site
- Easy dismantling for rotating parts and shaft seals
- Stainless steel drive shrouds available
Details & Configuration
Everything you need to know about the FACB/FDCB pump — from core benefits to full technical configuration options.
Economical
Food grade pump with careful considerations for Food & Hygienic Applications — delivering hygienic performance without the premium price tag of specialist sanitary equipment.
Low Pulsing Conveying
Low shear and virtually pulsation-free pumping allow gentle transfer of sensitive products, even whole pieces — without damage to product structure or texture.
Robust Construction
Uses Robust Encapsulated Cardan Joints known for their versatility and long service life — engineered to carry higher loads in heavy, solid-laden and abrasive duty.
Easy Clean
Carefully designed for excellent Cleaning results in cleaning processes such as Clean in Place (CIP) & Sterilization in Place (SIP) — reducing downtime between production runs.
- Discharge Port
- Made of stainless steel, polished inside, glass bead blown outside. Connection as standard to SMS, DIN, Tri Clamp.
- Rotor
- Wear resistant and corrosion-resistant materials. Optionally with hard surface treatment.
- Stator
- In food-grade materials to suit applications as reqd.
- Shaft Sealing
- Available in Gland Packing, Single Mechanical seal as well as Double Mechanical seals.
- Suction Housing
- Made of stainless steel and internally polished with an external satin finish. The optimized pump casing with suction connection above the mechanical seal enables both product flow and CIP solutions to flow through the entire casing. The CIP-connection allows effective draining. Optional: double jackets for heating.
- Drives & Drive Arrangements
- Available in both Bareshaft Drive Configuration — FACB series, as well as Close Coupled Drive Configuration FDCB series.
- Geared motors, variable speed drives or frequency controlled motors are offered. Also offered are drive shrouds made of stainless steel.
- Dry Run Protection
- Dry Run protection monitors the temperature of the stator and shuts the pump down when the limit value is reached, to protect the pump from dry running.
- Overpressure Protection
- The pressure gauge switches off the pump as soon as a pre-set pressure is exceeded or not reached, and protects the pump from increased wear and tear or piping damage.
- Seal Support Systems
- We offer seal Flush, Quench and Barrier type support systems. Barrier type systems protect the shaft sealing by selectively supplying barrier liquid. Also available with flow meter on request.
