Drum Emptying Unit
(DEU)
ROTOMAC Drum Emptying Units pump their way through your product all the way to the bottom — leaving less than 3% residue in the barrel or drum. Powered by ROTOMAC's proven progressive cavity pump for low-pulsation, trouble-free, shear-sensitive fluid transfer.

Complete Barrel Emptying — Zero Waste
The ROTOMAC Drum Emptying Unit (DEU) — also known as a Barrel Emptying Unit — is a complete pump and follower plate system designed to extract viscous and shear-sensitive products from standard 200-litre barrels and drums with maximum efficiency and minimal product loss.
The DEU lowers into the drum and pumps its way through the product from top to bottom. Once the pump reaches the base, less than 3% residue remains — a dramatic improvement over manual emptying or conventional pump-and-dip-tube arrangements.
The heart of the DEU is ROTOMAC's Progressive Cavity Pump — which conveys product in a low-pulsation, trouble-free manner, avoiding any damage to your shear-sensitive products. The PC pump's gentle positive-displacement action is ideal for viscous pastes, adhesives, resins, food products, and cosmetic formulations.
Four Steps to Complete Drum Emptying
The DEU's proprietary design makes drum emptying a smooth, one-operator operation from start to finish.
Position Over Drum
The DEU is positioned over the full drum using the proprietary lowering mechanism. The follower plate seats squarely on the product surface.
Lower Into Product
The pump assembly lowers easily through the product. ROTOMAC's proprietary design eliminates the painstaking work of manual pump positioning and drum movement.
PC Pump Empties Drum
The progressive cavity pump runs continuously, conveying product in a smooth, low-pulsation flow. The follower plate tracks downward as the drum empties — no cavitation, no air ingestion.
Raise & Change Drum
Once at the bottom with less than 3% residue remaining, the pump raises quickly for fast drum changeover — keeping production downtime to an absolute minimum.

Why Choose the ROTOMAC DEU?
When it comes to emptying drums of viscous, valuable, or shear-sensitive products, the ROTOMAC DEU offers a combination of advantages that no manual or conventional pump arrangement can match.
Maximum Product Recovery
Leaving less than 3% residue means you recover more of every expensive drum — reducing raw material waste, disposal costs, and improving your overall material yield.
Protects Shear-Sensitive Products
The progressive cavity pump at the core of the DEU conveys products gently without shear — preserving viscosity, texture, and active ingredient integrity from drum to process.
Reduces Downtime
The easy-lowering proprietary mechanism and fast drum changeover design dramatically cut idle time between drums — keeping your production line running at maximum efficiency.
Operator Safety & Ergonomics
Manual drum emptying with dip tubes and bucket decanting creates ergonomic risks and product spillage. The DEU fully automates the operation — improving safety and cleanliness.
Precise Flow Control
With flow directly proportional to pump speed, and optional VFD integration, the DEU allows precise, repeatable dosing and filling — essential for batch process accuracy.
Proven ROTOMAC Technology
The DEU is built around ROTOMAC's 55-year-proven progressive cavity pump — backed by full service, spare parts, and technical support from our nationwide network.
