Standard Hopper Pump
The 'W' Series pump is a special adaptation of the standard progressive cavity pump. This pump design is modified with a wide-throat suction inlet which allows the media to enter the suction housing with ease and avoids clogging. Additionally, the pump is equipped with a screw conveyor type arrangement which pushes the liquid forward with a slight change in design — specially suited for applications where the media is highly viscous and has a higher concentration of solids.

ROTOMAC™ WA/WD Standard Hopper Pump
Part of the ROTOMAC W Range, the WA/WD progressive cavity pump is a special adaptation of the standard PC pump, modified with a wide-throat suction inlet that allows media to enter the suction housing with ease and avoids clogging. A screw conveyor type arrangement pushes the liquid forward with a slight design change, making this pump ideally suited for highly viscous media with a higher concentration of solids.
Available in both a close-coupled design with a directly flanged-on drive system, and as a bareshaft variant — the WA/WD pump adapts to almost any drive arrangement your process requires.
Why wide-throat? A standard suction inlet can struggle with thick, solids-laden media. The WA/WD's wide-throat hopper design gives that media a much easier path into the suction housing, reducing the risk of bridging and clogging that would otherwise interrupt continuous operation.
Details & Configuration
Everything you need to know about the SD Close Coupled Pump — from core benefits to full technical configuration options.
Optimum Product Conveyance
Conveyance of the optimal flow rate to the downstream rotating unit by compressing the medium in the compression zone.
Variable
Available in close-coupled design with a directly flanged-on drive system, or as a variant with a bareshaft variant.
Robust
Heavy duty cardan joint offers best value by increasing the life cycle of parts.
Fits All
Available with various rotor/stator geometries and a wide range of different shaft seals — tailored to suit any conveying process.
- Discharge Port
- Available with gauge connection, flange connections conforming to ISO, DIN & ANSI standards.
- Rotor
- Wear resistant and corrosion-resistant materials. Optionally with hard surface treatment.
- Conventional Geometry
- With shorter pitches, the geometry is for high pressure applications.
- Extended Geometry
- With a small rotor diameter and a long pitch, the extended geometry attains lower surface velocities and extends the service life due to its large sealing line.
- Stator
- The seal on both ends is molded as an integral part of the elastomeric stator.
- Suction Housing
- Rectangular design, hopper length customized to meet special applications. Compression zone. Flanges at both ends for quick disassembly when replacing the rotor; hand hole available on request.
- Augar Type Connecting Rod
- Connecting rod with screw conveyor with progressive pitch for power transmission and conveying of viscous products.
- Robust Cardan Type Joint
- Heavy duty, robust, long lasting cardan type universal joint — it can handle more load due to its inherent design. These joints offer a longer service life than the conventional pin joint.
- Yoke Shaft
- Connects the drive shaft to the joint. With gland packing, the plug-in shaft is used as a shaft protection sleeve. Upon request, it is available with wear resistant coating.
- Shaft Sealing
- Available in gland packing and also with flushing lantern ring, single mechanical seal, as well as double mechanical seals.
- Drives & Drive Arrangements
- Available in both bareshaft drive configuration (WACB series), as well as close coupled drive configuration (WDCB series). Geared motors, variable speed drives, or frequency controlled motors are offered — drive shrouds made of stainless steel are also available.
- Dry Run Protection
- Dry run protection monitors the temperature of the stator and shuts the pump down when the limit value is reached, to protect the pump from dry running.
- Overpressure Protection
- The pressure gauge switches off the pump as soon as a pre-set pressure is exceeded or not reached, protecting the pump from increased wear and tear or piping damage.
- Seal Support Systems
- We offer seal flush, quench, and barrier type support systems. Barrier type systems protect the shaft sealing by selectively supplying barrier liquid. Also available with flow meter on request.
- Retensioning Device
- With this device, a worn stator can be evenly readjusted at several points so that the clamping between the rotor and stator is once again optimal and pump performance increases.
- Standard Baseplate
- Suited baseplate for mounting with geared motor, for standard applications. Specialized features available as per custom requirements.
- Sealing Options
- Standard Gland PackingUniversal choice for sealing the gland area in the pump. Also available with grease or lantern ring to shut off the media flow. Can also be supplied with upstream labyrinth seal and additional flush connection or lubricating device.
- Single Acting Mechanical SealUniversal standard mechanical seal for dosing, food applications, and semi-submersible pumps for sealing of liquid from the gland area in the pump.
- Multiple Acting Mechanical SealMechanical seals arranged in a row. Available in "back-to-back", "face-to-face", or "tandem" sequence.
- Cartridge Mechanical Seal
- Ready-to-install pre-assembled units with supply connections and attachment brackets for quick replacement.
