ROTOMAC™ Gear Pumps

ROTOMAC gear pumps are positive displacement pumps designed for the reliable, controlled transfer of viscous clear liquids — from edible oils and petroleum products to chemical solvents, acids, alkalis, and hot syrups. Built with a variety of material options, they adapt to corrosive and demanding process environments.

The Gear-Within-a-Gear Principle

ROTOMAC gear pumps operate on the internal gear (gear-within-a-gear) principle — delivering smooth, positive displacement flow through five precise stages.

Liquid Entry

Liquid enters the suction port between the rotor and idler teeth as they unmesh.

Crescent Seal

The crescent shape divides the liquid and acts as a seal between suction and discharge ports.

Travel Through Pump

Liquid travels through the pump between the gear teeth in locked, sealed pockets — assuring precise volume control.

Gear Mesh Seal

Intermeshing teeth of idler and rotor form a seal equidistant from both discharge and suction ports.

Discharge

The seal forces liquid out of the discharge port smoothly — producing non-pulsating, consistent flow.

Full Operating Description Liquid enters the suction port between the rotor and idler teeth. The liquid travels through the pump between the teeth of the "gear-within-a-gear" principle. The crescent shape divides the liquid and acts as a seal between the suction and discharge ports. The pump head is nearly flooded just prior to forcing the liquid out of the discharge port. Intermeshing gears of the idler and rotor form locked pockets for the liquid — which assures volume control. Rotor and idler teeth mesh completely to form a seal equidistant from the discharge and suction ports. This seal forces the liquid out of the discharge port.
